This unique greeting card design was created from our photograph of an antique decorative plate in the Commandant's House, at the Port Arthur Historic Site (Tasmania, Australia) Printed in Tasmania on 100% recycled paper. Packaged with a recycled envelope and biodegradable cellophane. Card is 90mm x 90mm in size

Story

It’s easy to forget that amongst all the hardships of life at Port Arthur, everyday life still had its own place. In the Commandant’s Cottage on the hill overlooking the historic site, there is a great collection of items from the families who lived and worked there. One thing which grabbed my attention in particular was the intricate details of a plate used by the Commandant’s family. I thought it was a great example of people looking for the small but important pieces of beauty in an otherwise quite grim and hostile environment.
