Story
If you visit Cradle Mountain National Park and venture onto one of the less-trodden paths, you’re likely to encounter one of its most famous residents. Shuffling along and paying little heed to passers-by; at first glance what appears to be a furry boulder on legs, soon materialises into the not-so-common Common Wombat. These wonderful creatures spend their days casually munching on the local vegetation, leaving nothing but their curiously cube-shaped scats for the unwary hiker to tread on. I captured this little guy near Ronny Creek (a veritable wombat hotspot), just at the beginning of the world-famous Overland Track.
