Fair Go Trading Kaisa Swirl Baskets - Set of 3. Assorted colourways.
Discover this wonderful set of three Kaisa baskets, each skillfully handmade with upcycled sarees. They’re perfect for all kinds of storage—whether for toys, laundry, or any other household needs.
These baskets are crafted by artisans from Rangpur in northern Bangladesh. By purchasing them, you help provide a sustainable, reliable income that supports both their families and their wider community.
Kaisa, a wild grass native to the riverbanks of Bangladesh, is a traditional material for basket-making. When it dries, its natural light green shade shifts to a pale tan. In these baskets, we’ve added upcycled saree strips at the top to bind the coils and give them a vibrant finishing touch.
While Kaisa is widely used in Bangladesh, it remains relatively scarce in Australia, making these baskets a unique and eco-friendly find.
Our Fair Trade artisans gather the kaisa strands and coil them one on top of another to form the basket. As each coil is created, it’s secured with upcycled saree and palm leaf.
