Bluyonda Silk Scarves SILK CHIFFON SCARF: Aussie Bush Mates
DIMENSIONS: 180cmx65cm (71 inchesx25.5 inches).
PHOTOGRAPHY: 2010, 2012 and 2015 in Victoria, Australia. Left: Eastern Gray Kangaroo/ Middle: Koala/ Right: Emu with chicks.
STORY: Having the three iconic native animals together from separate images was a real challenge- the Emu chicks were an unexpected bonus.I was so pleased that we also made a red (“Outback Aussie Mates”) variation. The Kangaroo and Koala are marsupials carrying their young in a pouch. Early explorers described them as creatures with heads like deer, standing upright like men, and hopping like frogs! Koalas were described as “New Holland Sloths, torpid, senseless creatures void of elegance”. Emus are the second largest living Bird. In Aboriginal mythology, a creation myth says that the sun was made by throwing an Emu’s egg into the sky.
INCLUDED WITH YOUR SCARF: Designed Eco_Pouch / Tag with story about the image / Tag with history of Silk and Artist’s resume. Bluyonda Gift Box with magnetic lid can be ordered for $5.
FINISH: Neat machine hemmed.
