STORY: Collection of early Stamps. Creating this scarf took me on a journey through my childhood, going through my Grandfathers stamps and selecting these to highlight as a silk scarf. From 1850 until 1913 Australian States issued their own individual postage stamps. Most portrayed portraits of Queen Victoria. The early Tasmanian issues featured the state’s name given by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman in 1642. He titled the land ‘Van Diemen’s Land’ to honour his patron Anthony Van Deimen.
