STORY: Stony Creek Trestle Bridge. Built in the early 1900’s The Stony Creek Trestle Bridge measures about 250m long and 20m high. The Bridge is the largest wooden trestle bridge in the Southern Hemisphere and is a stunning piece of engineering built from materials found on the site such as red ironbark. The bridge was used to transport passengers and for logging until 1988 when the last train made the journey between Bairnsdale and Orbost. The criss-cross lattice designed bridge created a great platform for a B&W scarf.
