Bluyonda Silk Scarves SILK TWILL SCARF: Opal
DIMENSIONS: Panoramic 150cmx50cm (60 inches x 20.5 inches).
PHOTOGRAPHY: October 2019, Victoria, Australia.
STORY: Opal is the national gemstone of Australia. Precious opal shows an amazing interplay of internal colours – and can display nearly all of the visible spectrum. In antiquity opal was rare and very valuable and through Europe it was a gem prized by royalty. The towns of Coober Pedy and Andamooka in South Australia as well as Lightning Ridge in New South Wales, are major sources of Australian opal. Being tiny, the opal used for this scarf was not valuable, and was purchased as a gift however close – up photography revealed a display of vibrant colours which surprisingly created the attractive design.
THIS 100% SILK TWILL SCARF combines the utilitarian strength of the Twill weave whilst maintaining a fine smooth texture. It has a wonderful drape, great lustre and gives a sheen to enrich vibrant colours. It is ideally suited to complement styled garments.
