Manabaskets SUBIRA
Subira means 'Patience' in Kiswahili, and baskets in the Subira collection are handmade of finely woven sisal fibre, taking one week for a small basket to be made and one month for a large basket to be handwoven. Each basket displays meticulous artistry and is available in two colour palettes: traditional blacks, browns and naturals or vibrant colours.
The women artisans take fibre from the sisal leaves, and hand-dye the fibre, then roll the fine sisal into twine. The traditional browns, blacks and natural colours are all dyed from bark, leaves, and flowers. Manabaskets pays fair prices immediately to women basket weavers to empower them and their families to support household incomes. The women's weaving cooperatives are located in extremely dry and remote areas in Kenya
Subira is available in five sizes: L to XXS, adding style to every home. Exquisite. Beautiful. Truly One of A Kind.
When you order a Subira basket from Manabaskets, you are empowering women weavers, and supporting Manasprings, a charitable organisation that supports grassroots women leaders caring for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
100% of profits are given back to Manasprings.
Given every Manabasket is handmade, the size may differ. Colours and designs in photographs are an indication only of the collection. We will always do our best to provide you with the most fabulous, one-of-a-kind baskets from the selection you choose. Slight imperfections are celebrated, and are not defects in the basket.
